Information about Ornäsrännet 2015

Ornäsrännet is a long distance ice-skating race on Lake Ösjön between Borlänge and Falun in Dalarna, Sweden. Ösjön is next to Lake Runn, the second largest lake in the province of Dalarna and is a paradise for outdoor activities in both in summer- and wintertime. A great number of islands in Runn gives an archipelago-like appearance and makes the racing course very diversified.

In the 16th century, the Swedish king Gustav Vasa escaped his pursuer Arendt Persson at Ornässtugan and chased The Danes over the ice of Runn to Svärdsjö. In our time Runn attracts many long distance ice-skaters and iceboats when the ice is solid.

Start and Finish is located at Haganäs, Tomnäs 2 km northeast of Ornäs in Borlänge. The first start is at 11 a.m. All participants have to be there before 10 a.m.
