Ornäsrännet is a long distance ice-skating race on Lake Runn between Borlänge and Falun in Dalarna, Sweden. Runn is the second largest lake in the province of Dalarna and is a paradise for outdoor activities in both in summer- and wintertime. A great number of islands in Runn gives an archipelago-like appearance and makes the racing course very diversified.

History
In the 16th century, the Swedish king Gustav Vasa escaped his pursuer Arendt Persson at Ornässtugan and chased The Danes over the ice of Runn to Svärdsjö. In our time Runn attracts many long distance ice-skaters and iceboats when the ice is solid.

Start
Start and Finish is located at Storsund, 4 km northeast of Ornäs in Borlänge. The first start is at 11 a.m. All participants have to be there before 10 a.m.
Ornäs is situated close to national highway 50 between Borlänge and Falun. Signs by the highway clearly shows where to turn towards Ornäs. In Ornäs, take left just after the railway crossing and then follow the signs toward Storsund.
Parking areas close to the start will be available.

Ice prods are compulsory for everyone.

The Kiddies-race
The new Ornäsrännet for children opened last year for children 9 years or younger. All children are welcome to participate. There is no registration fee and all participants will be awarded.

Timing
All participants will be timed electronically; results will be posted at the finish and on our website.

Startnumbers and program information
Startnumbers and updated information about the race can be found at the competition-office in the start area.
The startnumber should be collected by the participant no later than 10 a.m. on the day of the race. It can also be picked up between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on February 6.

Trophies
All participants completing the race will receive a medal designed especially for Ornäsrännet. More over, lots will be drawn on startnumbers.
